Garden centers and plant nurseries sell annuals, perennials, shrubs, trees, vegetables and houseplants, along with soil, mulch, fertilizer, pots and tools. Independent nurseries often grow part of their own stock and carry varieties that do well in the local climate, while big-box garden departments compete on price for common plants. Wholesale nurseries and growers sell to landscapers and sometimes to the public at volume prices; tree nurseries sell balled-and-burlapped and container trees and can deliver and plant large specimens. Specialty growers focus on bonsai, cactus and succulents, orchids or native plants, and hydroponics stores sell lights, nutrients and systems for growing indoors.

On a visit there this weekend I bought 6 perennials plants in total. Three were purple top vervain. I planted them immediately, all at the same time, next to each other. Same sun exposure, same amount of water. 2 days later, I noticed that 2 were thriving and 1 was completely dead. I took photos and went back to the nursery and showed the girl at the cash register. She said that yes one looked dead and suggested that I cut it back and hope that it revives. She said that there are no guarantees and that plants sometimes aren’t healthy. I am an experienced gardener and have bought plants in many places from high end nurseries to big box stores and have never experienced this. Very disappointed and frankly surprised by this. These 2 plants are 18” apart for each other.

This is the premier landscaping and plant markets in Cincinnati. From the great selection of plants to the staff, Native Roots does it all! Wyatt, especially, was incredibly helpful with planning my perennial garden from soil management to picking out the best native plants. Thank you so much!

Very nice place with lots of perennials, annuals and some native plants. I wish they had more native plants and it seems some of them were variants from their native counterpart like kaleidoscope cone flower. I saw their response to another review and it’s understandable to use them to bridge the gap but I’m not sure I’d market them as entirely native because some people are unaware they are cultivars which can still be beneficial but breeding changes aspects of the plant that pollinators are more evolved for. I would just make sure that are known as cultivars to the beginner gardener, it was a bit of a hassle sorting through cultivars and their native counterparts. They do have some directly native species which was nice but was hoping for more.

GO HERE!! This is the perfect blend of a garden and garden center, it’s what all garden centers should be honestly. It’s a beautiful garden to enjoy walking through while you shop for all sorts of plants. I saw some very cool plants I’d never seen before. I wanted to support local and I was surprised with how reasonable the prices were for a private plant store. Cheaper than Lowe’s or Home Depot! 10/10 would recommend and I will 100% be returning to buy more plant and enjoy the scenery
